This week's project was pretty easy. I've been shooting my Crossfit events in black and white lately. So I knew I was going to use one of those shots for this weeks image... The events are held indoors and the "boxes" (gyms) have a very stripped down feel. Because of this fact black and white work well plus it gives the photo a gritty feel that I like.
The photo above is one I've been trying to get for several events now. I love the ritual of the chalk before a workout, everyone has there technique of applying chalk. It makes for a great photo too with flying piece of chalk around. It has been a hard photo to get.
Usually the person applying chalk does so very quickly and it doesn't give me much time to capture. I haven't really gotten to the point where I stage any photos before/during the events. For now I've really tried to stay out of the competitors way. With that being said, I'm about one event away from asking them, "can you do that again?!"
