Dandelion

Although we have yet to go on a walk, dandelions were a huge part of last summer.  Presley was just over a year last summer and dandelions were her favorite.  We went on walks several times a day and we looked for dandelions.  I think we may have doubled the dandelion population in our neighborhood.

Today it was stormy and we went to the petting zoo (a local family farm).  Presley had a great time...  I was excited to see a few dandelions!  I was bummed to hear the pony rides were only available on the weekends, we will have to wait and see if she decides to go for a ride.

Rain = Rainbows

This morning it was raining cats and dogs.  The sort of rain I saw in the movies as a kid and didn't think looked real, well it (rain) really comes down here...  Presley's summer cousins were set to come over today for a an hour or so, which worked out perfect considering the weather.  They didn't seem to mind the rain either.  After and hour or so of high pitched screaming the girls were off and we headed to Vermont (20 miles away).  

I snapped a few pictures on our way to the grocery store in Middlebury, Vermont.  It was a quick trip there and back...  On our way back the clouds cleared and we headed to the lake.  We visited with our friends the Guyette's and went for a boat ride.  The lake could not have been quieter, we saw only one fishing boat.  The water was calm and the sky was perfectly blue.

Change of View

Summer vacation has officially begun, and this day couldn't have been better.  We have spent a day on the lake, went for a kayak ride and had dinner with our friends.  Presley took part in her first marshmallow roast with her summer cousins...

Being here is such a privilege.  Having lived my whole life in Arizona the Adirondack mountains are so amazing to me.  The green mountains are so different then anything, I've ever seen back in my desert home.  I often tell people back in Arizona that life here is like living in a Norman Rockwell Painting...  I love this community as much as I do the landscape.  This year I am especially excited for Presley to be here.  She is at an age where she can really enjoy a lot more of the summer activities.  This will be the first year she will be awake for the fireworks...

Travel Day

Yesterday we spent traveling.  Presley was really well behaved.  We left AZ at 10:40AM and arrived in Ticonderoga, NY at 10:15PM.  It was a long day but well worth it...  We are off to the lake, I hope to have some time this evening to post some more photos.

This is my favorite one...  The trees are all trees you find thru out our neighborhood...  The purple orchid is a personal favorite.

I'm getting ready to leave for the summer, I'm really excited about it but sorta sad too.  I love Tempe and will miss my home, family and friends  (not in that order) in sunny AZ...

Tempe is beautiful and I love it!  I've lived in the same three square miles for the past 8ish years (a fact I repeat often)...  Before I ramble on about why its so great, I should talk about the photos above...

I'm not even sure what to call these cement water hole things (not the official name).  However, they were an eye sore, now they are art...  I love Tempe and will miss it and all its character.

Happy ~ Sad ~ Mad

I'm so proud tonight.  My daugter drew her first smiley face.  She is 2 years (and 4 months) and like most toddlers loves to draw, paint and color.  She's been drawing circles for some time now but this is the first smiley face.

I've been drawing happy, sad and mad faces for her.  I hoped having her understand these emotions she would be able to express herself better.  It's pretty common for toddlers to use love and hate, those are two emotions they understand early on.  I do recall hearing kids tell their parents they hate them, which always seems hurtful to me (hasn't happened yet- crossing my fingers).  

Hopefully I can give her more words to express herself to avoid her telling me she hates me (at least until she hits her teens).  I'm working on the word frustrated, because this is an emotion she has quite often...  When she is frustrated (dressing/undressing herself, opening a small latch etc.) I say to her, "I know you're frustrated let me help you"...

She understands the three facial expressions, we will see how the other words workout!

Handprints

Ever since Presley's Fathers Day gift ,"pinking" (what she calls painting) has not been the same.  Now she pretty much just paints her hands and then presses them on her paper, or on her clothing...  At least she hasn't touched the walls yet.

A Rose is a Rose...

Today I went back to a graden I had photographed before.  Presley was with me this time so I didn't get too many photos...  Today was a hot day.  We had our lunch under a big shade tree- it was bearable but once I started photographing the roses (no shade)...  Wow!  Presley told me, "Mommy I spicy."  She obviously confuses the meaning of spicy, but got her point across.

A Call to Service

Daddy Best

I will ask Presly, "Who's the best?" She joyfully replies, "Daddy best!".

Today was a busy day and I didn't have my camera for most of it, kicking myself now...  I made sure that I got a photo of Presley's Fathers Day gifts...
