For A Moment Photography

Landed in Arizona

We just landed in Tempe, Arizona several hours ago.  I was pretty sad leaving the Northeast, I shed a tear or two (a couple of times)...  I'm usually ready to come home, not so much this summer...  However, now that I'm home (for three hours now) I'm really glad to be back (even if it is HOT). 

Presley was pretty excited, seeing all of her toys again was like Christmas in August...  Our time here will be short but just what we need to power up for the next adventure!

I am unable to post any new photos, my computer is currently backing up ( so far 2GB of 125GB) it may take all night.  I will try to post in the morning, we will see how Teddy (Presley) does, she went to bed at 9PM west coast which is 12 east coast and didn't nap at all today...

Goodbye George

Our last night with George (Lake George).   I'm not ready to leave...  Presley had such a great time here with her summer cousins.  We are really going to miss this place. 

This summer I became more involved and really felt like apart of the community.  If only...

Wine at 10

I love my job!  Have I said that before?...  This mornings session was a couple I had never met and only corresponded with Amy thru email.  Not knowing much about them I wasn't sure what to expect or how it would go...  We of course had a great time, I got along with them both very well and think they are such a fun couple (having them sip wine at 10 may have helped)...  Their lil' love story is really cute (dated in h.s. and reconnected years later)and seeing them together just made me smile.  

I was very excited to get home and review the photos, I shot them in a new location which added to the excitement.  Their energy was just great and I knew the photos would be great (can you sense a problem in paradise?).   I get on the computer and I'm unable to download part of the photos.  I keep getting an error message, as it turns out.  My temporary storage is full, I'm on vacation and my external hard drive in still in AZ.  Not only that but I am unable to do any photo edits...  So I am very sad to say I can't work on the photo session until I get home to AZ and make some more room on my computer.

I still have two photo sessions to fit in before I leave and three sessions to edit...  Taking the photos for the upcoming sessions won't be a problem but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to post any new photos until after I return to Arizona.  I guess I'm lucky that this didn't happen earlier in the summer...

Oh my miss judge a session!  OK today I was to photograph two siblings John and Cassie.  I had John pegged as the "shy guy" and had worked on ideas on how to "loosen him up"- boy was I wrong!  From the moment I arrived John was ready for me to take notice (literally running around his house twice).  Cassie was just as fun and open to having her photo taken!

I had only had an hour to photograph them (I like to plan for at least two) and had not had too much time to think about the location.  I'm only here a few more days and opted for their front porch.  It was perfect!  They were comfortable, open and we had fun from the get go!

My only problem as of yet is not having time to work on the photos- love  them!

Quietly Ending

We have less then a week left in the North East.  I still have a few photos to take of buildings and random stuff I want photographed.  Thankfully we have had such great weather- and amazing clouds...  I really don't remember clouds like this in AZ (keep in mind I don't have the best memory either)...  Now that I'm done here we (Presley, my camera and I) are off for a long stroll...

Andy and Jon

Today somehow with this crazy weather I was able to get one photo session in and I'm so glad!  The session was taken at the King's Garden at Fort Ticonderoga.  I was very glad we were able to have the session there, (normally not allowed).  There were almost too many spots for me to choose from.  I could have stayed another hour...

I guaranteed them this would be their best family portrait to date...  Truth be told they had never had one (I'm funny too) in any case I was pretty sure they would be happy.  The location was perfect and after seeing them thru out the summer (small town) I knew they would be a fun family to photograph...

At around school age all kids have been conditioned to stare at the camera and smile so it is a bit more work to try to get a candid photo.  With the help of their parents we got a few candid photos and some gorgeous posed shots as well.

Today we went to Middlebury the weather forecast said rain...  On the way to Middlebury we pass several farms all very big a beautiful...  It was last year on my way to Boston that I first saw these igloo looking things.  They were empty at the time, after a few moments I realized what they were...  This is where a calf set for veal will spent it's entire life.

The ones standing outside of their small igloo have a short chain (where they are standing is the entire length of the chain).  The ones with the bigger round domes can only stick their heads out...  This particular photo was taken a few weeks back.  Today they were all empty...  This isn't the best photo but I felt uncomfortable getting too close.  I understand this farmer is doing what they can to make a living, but couldn't we survive without veal on the menu?

...Presley saw the hay rolled up in that white stuff and she thinks they are huge marshmallows.

Toddler Art

A few months ago I mentioned that I was teaching myself to draw.  I have still been working on that project I am pleased to say.  I have been making progress but not ready to show any work yet...

What I will show you is Presley's art work, she's been doing a lot of chalk drawings this summer.  Being her Mummy I am obviously pretty proud of her and I love all of her drawings...  As of lately she draws better alone, when I'm there she wants me to draw it (what ever that may be) or she gets very frustrated with her own attempts...  I'm not sure where this is coming from...  

I just let her know not to get frustrated (still working on naming emotions) and we never give up...  Today, pointed out the eraser, we will see if that helps.

Sun, Sand and Sorbet

Today we went the the neighboring community's beach.  We are meeting some friends (in town for a wedding) from Arizona later with week and I was scouting a spot for a family portrait.  The beach was a great family beach, it wasn't the best spot for photos...

Presley and I had a fun for the short amount of time we were there.  I was freaking out a bit, see our friends were arriving today but we were not to met them until tomorrow.  I felt a bit like The Cable Guy, as if we were there hoping to see them.  The village is pretty small so the chances were high of running into them.  

We stayed just over an hour at the beach then walked to the ice cream shop and Presley got pink ice cream!  It was actually strawberry kiwi sorbet.  She always asks for pink ice cream (she loves everything pink) so she was pleased...

We slide out of town unseen and without a photo location but we had a fun new adventure.

Maura

What a great day!  Our time is slipping away here in the north east which has motivated me to do some road trips and take even more photos...  Today I did both, I'm only going to blog about the photo session or this post might take me all night...  Presley and I went to Shelburne Farm- amazing, more on that later (maybe).

Right now I'm too excited about these photos!..  Like most (if not all) this photo shoot did not go as planned.  I had found this truck I wanted to have in my photographs (backdrop/prop) but once we  got moving the session shifted to this field next to the truck.  This spontaneity is the part of photography that I love so much, I never know quite how the session is going to unfold.      

The truck photos still came out pretty great but I love the sun behind her in most of the field photos...  Maura is going to be in the 8th grade and I was worried about just how to photographer her, I didn't want to make her look like...  Well, Miley Cyrus (not a fan) but right away she was relaxed and willing to try anything (balancing books) and her personality came thru.
