Today my idea for this weeks project changed quite suddenly.  Our dog Moses has had issues with this hind legs.  He's 12.5 years old and his hind quarters where starting to give out.  He wasn't in any pain but would fall, had a hard time with the stairs and could no longer go for walks.  

This is quite the change from what he was in his hay day.  Moses has always been a muscular athletic dog, unlike my Bailey.  He could was my running buddy and would run 10 miles lay down for 5 minutes and be ready to go again.  He loved the water!  You could tell him to jump in and he would!  He jumped off of boats, off of diving boards and even swam along the kayak with Mark.  He got to the point he would dive for toys in the water...  That's all been a long time ago now.

He has thankfully been pain free until this weekend.  Saturday he didn't get off of his bed.  He usually always greets us at the door.  He didn't bark and would not eat.  Finally today we noticed he could not use his back legs to move on his bed.  The vet came to our home this afternoon.  

I was outside with Presley most the afternoon so that Moses could have some peace and Mark stayed with him.  I had taken off his dog collar (to make him more comfortable) and put it on the arm of the bench and forgotten about it.  A little while later I heard the collar jingle, for split second I thought Moses was walking out the door- it was just the wind.  That's when I noticed the yellow bottle opener.  We put this on him so many years ago.  This way we never lost the opener, we'd just call Mosey over...  

We are so lucky to have incredible neighbors (Aaron & Mark- thx!) that watched Presley and got her pink ice cream while the vet was taking care of Moses...  She asked about him when she came home, and started to cry a little.  But in the same sentence asked for ice cream.  Having lost Bailey so recently I already know that she'll have brief periods where she'll miss him but will over all be fine.  For us it will be an adjustment to the quiet of the house.  It already feels so empty.

Crossfit Sectionals 4.02.11

Today Core Crossfit hosted a local sectionals workout with the help of several other Crossfit boxes (gyms).  It was a huge turn out and a very smooth event.  I of course took photos and this time around I did a little video. Which now doesn't seem so hard to do, other then a few missing items from my film starter kit.  

The trick for me and I assume all photographers is how to photograph the same or similar event and make the photos interesting.  I shot for two hours and took over 400 photos.  Thank goodness for me the workout was a long one so I could take my time with the photos.  The only problem is that it takes me at least one round of athletes before I get into a groove.  Or until I get comfortable enough to roll around on the floor to get my photo.

The above photos are a few of my early favorites.  I'm sure more will be added once I get some sleep.  It's hard to look at 400 plus photos with a clear head this late.

 

 

 

 

Photos for Film Project

 

These are from a photo session I did a few weeks ago for a film producer.  Austin has written and produced a movie and needed photos done for the DVD and marketing pieces.  I'm really happy with the images, especially the one in the theater. 

Austin has such an interesting background, a recovering lawyer (as he would say), yogi, Author, founder of The International Coaching & Training Institute and father.  I've been a student of his for years and really connect to his teachings and ideas.  These are the reasons I was so excited to do this photo session with him.

I haven't seen the film but have heard about the concept and I'm looking forward to seeing it!  I enjoy the creative process in just about any form and love seeing people around me being fired up about theirs.  I attached the promo video and will keep you posted on the release date.
