We just got home from an awesome trip with my family, my brothers and their families. We took all our kids to Flagstaff for some sledding and to the Polar Express. We had such a great time together and I'm looking forward to doing a trip like this every year.
This was the first time we have done anything like this with all of our kids. It did cross my mind that things might not go smoothly. I mean, if you put 12 people in one house with freezing temperatures for three days, who knows what will happen... We all had such a great time!
The kids got along so well, and so did the adults. We did a gift exchange, went sledding (the trip highlight) made cookies, ginger bread houses and went to The Polar Express. It was so much fun! It was a jammed packed few days but it really made it fun for the kids (and us too). There was a couple of times I would be washing dishes or making a fire and hear the kids laughing, running or crying and warmed my heart... Waking up to kids playing reminded me of the days at my grandparents house with my cousins and my Mom's family.
The Polar Express was fun. We had heard mixed reviews so we didn't have high expectations. I have to say for the price I'm pleased with the trip. The train ride is the real experience. The North Pole could use a little work. But with that being said, Presley and all the kids loved it and that's what matters most...
The snow/sledding was for sure my favorite part. The kids played much longer outside then I expected. And Presley loved sledding! On the first run I wanted to go down with her or go first. She said, no she wanted to go first and alone. So I put her on a sled and against my natural instinct I sent her down hill in high speed. Thankfully she loved it and is injury free! This was my first time sledding and I have to say, it is humanly impossible to not smile while sledding! Forthe most part presley and I screamed a giggled all the way down. Presley and Daddy even got so good going down the hill together they would hold hands.
I'm glad we did this trip and I think this has been the best Christmas Season yet!
