Day 25: Palm Springs & All That it Means
This is day two of my first trip ever to Palm Springs (I really should of come to Coachella when I first heard about it- it's too late now), I have to admit I was a little confused as to the draw to Palm Springs. It's not a pretty drive here, it's in the middle of nowhere- the houses are amazing but why come here?.. So I didn't know that in the 50's contract studio stars could not go more than 200 miles from the studios and they had an obligation to be photographed pool side at a lot of the hotels here. So this became the playground to the stars- make sense now!
This morning we went for a walk around the neighborhood we are staying in (I'm totally clueless my surroundings), I thought the houses seem nice, but the hedges are so big it's hard to tell. Then we went on a tour- umm... I find out this morning I walked by Leonardo DiCaprio's home, the Stewart home, Lily Tomlin's, Elvis and Pricilla's honeymoon hideaway and all these other star homes without knowing. As we had walked this morning I thought it was eerily quite but at the same time the neighborhood felt very wholesome- very Brady (Bunch)... Maybe it's the time period of homes! Palm Springs is starting to grow on me, I just don't like the feeling of chasing stars down. I like the idea of a small town with great food, art and amazing weather.
My photo is original design items in the home we are staying in.
