Newborn Cam 2010.
Four year old Cam (same pink dog too).
bath time
Along came brother...
Playing dress up.
Cam threw herself on the bed saying, "I wish I was Sleeping Beauty. I wish I was Sleeping Beauty"...
This week I photographed these adorable kiddos, we had so much fun! Lucky for me this in not the first time I’ve worked with this adorable family. In the past I think I’ve referred to them as The Sunshine Family (it was a coloring book I had as a child). Not only have they been wonderful clients but they referred me another families I’ve loved, loved working with!!
When I was gathering props for their session I realized I still had a basket we placed Cam in when she was a newborn. She is now an adorable four year old with a two year old brother. Walking in to be reintroduced to them, I felt as they took to me like I had been there yesterday. Sweet Cam shared her breakfast with me and Lil’ Guy picked half Mom’s potted plant trying to give me a flower.
As you can see we had a very successful session. The kiddos were so good, I didn’t realize how many photos I had taken of them. There is such a difference when photographing adults compared to photographing kids. When I leave a session like this I’m so wiped out (usually pretty hungry too). But while I’m there I am so caught up in the moment and everything these innocent little creatures have to say and share with me nothing else matters. Working with children is truly something to be cherished and I will always be grateful for.
Occasionally I get asked what type of session is my favorite, wedding, kids, adults etc. Genuinely can not say I have a favorite, all offer me something distinctly different. I will say my clients, big and small are part of what makes my life so satisfying.
**PS if you know this family don't mention the photos to Daddy, they are a surprise!**

Last week I photographed for the first time, twin babies! Landon and Evan they were just over two months old and completely stole my heart right away. The day of the photos was the first time meeting their mom. She was referred to me by a client of mine (I love that!). On the phone this new mother of two (she also has a 3 year old and 2 large dogs) sounded so calm and I just knew she had to be out of her mind busy...
The morning of the session I let her know not worry if she was running late, that's 100% fine it will take me a bit to set up. I was concerned that she was going to be stressed out and worried. When I arrived she was just as calm and she looked great! The boys were getting ready to be fed and everyone was happy and ready for me.
As the morning session unfolded I realized that Alysia had an amazing calmness and steadiness about her. She had been this way on the phone but until I had met her I didn’t know it to be instinctively her (not just her for five minutes on the phone).
Her boys were too old (sounds silly I know) to do the sleeping baby photos I had set her expectation with that but I would try anyway. The boys didn’t sleep for us but they did let us fuss with them long enough to get some adorable images...
With the boys together it was so easy to tell them apart, separate them and it was impossible. They both have amazing blue eyes and the most precious coos. I even got Evan to smile at me. Landon was a bit more fussy and really seemed to know the difference between me and his mommy holding him. All babies are a gift but I feel a special bond with twins. It’s like we’re in a club and it’s something you have to be born into... I hope I get to see these two again.
PS for those without twins, you don't need to say "two twins" - twins means two. This always makes me laugh.

This lil' guy really made my day! I am so lucky I got to do his newborn photos because it almost didn't happen. His parents were not 100% sure they were going to do them. Then I had a scheduling conflict and almost said I was too busy to do them. Long story short his parents decided yes, I decided yes and we (I think I can speak for all involved) had a great time.
And being with him and his family was just what I needed. His parents and I have a common friend who sadly passed on today. It's been a very emotional time for all who knew David and felt his kindness... Jessica spoke about David and how he had just recently stopped her and reminded her to, just stop~ slow down. And today's session was that for me, stop being busy with "stuff" and slow down for people in my life...
My job is one that allows me to share or become apart of some of the most monument moments in peoples lives. I am so grateful for that. My job is a privilege and I love that I get to connect with people that I may otherwise never know in such a personal level... The photos are pretty but the love in this lil' family (and my other families) is what makes the photos so special.

Daddy's Sweet Baby Girl.
Love it!
Yesterday I had another newborn photo session. Lil' Miss Ella was such a sweetie but she wasn't exactly excited to work with me. I usually am pretty proud of my ability to calm a crying baby. Miss Ella really wanted nothing to do with me, but once with Mom and Dad she calmed quickly. I guess that shouldn't be too surprising. Taking her outside worked well too and we were able to snap these sweet photos...
As you may know I am a Red Sox's fan. So I wasn't exactly thrilled to see the pinstripe uniform come out, but I was able to contain myself and take the photo. Right after I snapped this shot she started crying so I'm pretty sure Daddy's little girl is a Sox's fan too!

Today I photographed a beautiful baby girl and her family. She is just a tiny thing, 5lbs. 5oz. and 100% adorable. In the beginning she put up a little bit of a fight but after her first sitting she pretty much slept for the rest of the session. Not only was she such a good model but she smiled a lot too, good dreams I guess.
We spent a lot of the session outside, I love photographing thick green grass. Plus babies really seem to enjoy being outdoors and the weather right now is perfect. It was warm enough that we didn't even worry about her being cold and I was able to photograph her for longer periods of time.
It was great photographing Brinley and I'm looking forward to photographing her cousin (due in two days) in the upcoming weeks. We are hoping to get a few photos of the newborn cousins together, cross your fingers they cooperate. What a sweet photo that would be.

Happy 1st. Birthday!
last year.
My lil' Angel, second session today.
Holy smokes I've had some fun sessions this week! It's day three of Spring Break and I'm three sessions in. Thank goodness I love my work, my clients and my camera. I was so lucky to photograph two sweet girls today.
Lil' Miss Mia was the first session of the day. I first photographed her as a newborn, that was a fun session. I can't believe it's already been a year! I'm glad I was apart of marking this first year for her family. She's totally adorable and I'm jealous that her Mom is able to get bows in her hair...
My second session was with my sweet niece, she is 5 months old today. We had planned a different photo (her awake) and as I was grabbing the props, she fell asleep (in my arms- sigh). So next thing you know we have this lovely sleeping cherub angel. I love one the photo but wish I could of gotten proof of her beautiful blue eyes. I was wishing for them. I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to do just that.

Cam's birthday tea party.
one year ago.
That's my girl.
Today we had a lil' tea party for Cam's first birthday! I was lucky enough to photograph her as a newborn and loved the chance to photograph her again. She is obviously so adorable, walking, talking and enjoying exploring all the things around her. She has the most delicate features and such a sweet demeanor that just makes her so kissable!
We had thought to add Presley in the tea party but she wasn't very interested. So as I was snapping away she walked over to our car. Both Stephanie and I tried to get her to join us, she said, she'd be a minute. Then the next thing we know she comes walking over in Mommy's shoes (they were in the car). We were both shocked on how well she walked in them!
I quickly snapped as many photos as I could imagining she would hop out of them quickly, not the case. I had to finally talk her out of them (um, those are Mommy's expensive heels). But not before she came back from the car with my glasses on! She is totally a girly girl which I have to admit is exciting for me. I don't imagine she'll have shoes like this anytime soon. And if she takes after Daddy she'll have no need for the extra height.

What a pleasant surprise today turned out to be. On Friday I had new clients schedule a newborn session for today. I was a little concerned things wouldn't go smoothly since it was scheduled on short notice. Thankfully the session went very well, a lot of it had to do with how relaxed- Dad, Mommy and Baby all were.
I really enjoyed myself and so did Mr. Jack, he was such a good boy. He did fuss a little but didn't cry much and put up with a lot. Mom was very much at ease and her adoration for her little guy was obvious. The photo of the two of them above turned out so naturally. I just let the two of them chat a bit and this was the result... He's less then 2 weeks old and think he's going to be a pretty happy guy with the parents he picked.
