We got the gang back together (this was in 2008)! Paula is in front on left... I'm in the back, big dorky smile.
The great thing about my job is I get to work with a lot of different people and a lot of the time I get to work with friends. For this session I got to take photos for a friend from high school! Her son is graduating from high school. I was really excited about taking his photos for him and for his mom.
Paula (my friend) and I grew up together in the same small town. I actually don't ever remember a time I didn't know her, she's always been a friend. We lost contact for several years but thanks to a few emails (before facebook) a group of high school girl friends and myself got back in touch with each other. It was great to see everyone so many years later and be able to have the comfort we had with each other back in elementary school. Then along with facebook we have maintained contact for the past several years and I've got to see so many great things going on in all of their lives.
So when Paula contacted me about taking photos for her son I was really excited! I knew how hard she had worked to raise him and be a good Mommy. I really wanted them to be something she loved and something he liked as well...
So after having to schedule and reschedule a few times we finally got to do Reece's session. Now with Reece's being a guy I had a feeling he was not going to be nearly as excited as his Mom and I were. But he was a great sport and seemed to have fun being photographed. Photographing guys is a little bit harder to do, there's just not as many posing options... I knew I wanted to try some different stuff with his photos. I love the way the photo with him in the hood turned out. I'm really happy with them and can't wait to give them all to him and his Momma.

A: front option
B: front option
C: front option
D: back side option
E: front option. This is a technical shot (shooting into sun, late in day). But I don't know if people can tell this?
I am having some postcards printed up by Schuster Printing & Marketing in Tempe. As you know I'm a fan of locally owned businesses! And one of my high school friends happens to be a team member there (hi Paul). They have great products and event better pricing! Check out there website and ask for Paul to help you out. He'll totally take care of you (yup, customer service is alive and well @ Schuster). I'm super excited about the marketing pieces and I need input on photos.
I'm only going to use one image on the front side. I'm thinking something simple and clean. I'm also contemplating doing one portrait style photo (option D) on the back side along with the text... Which image above is your choice? Do you think I do one photo on front and another on back? Or is that too much?

I've always had a hard time figuring out where I fit in the "girl" spectrum. I have a sailor's mouth and my sense of humor, well humor is a trait appreciated in men not women. With that all being said, I love heels, clothes, jewelry, handbags, fake lashes and makeup. I still don't know where I fit in the "girl" spectrum but now I'm better at applying makeup!
I didn't wear a lot of eye make up because I never had a lesson! I've tried to makeup for it wearing fake lashes, they make any eye stand out... I've been to the makeup counters but I always leave there feeling I look as if I work at The Copacabana. So for years I've had all this eye makeup but never knew how to use it or just plain afraid to use it.
It wasn't until meeting Suzy a makeup artist that I really learned what works for me. She does makeup for bridal parties and she won't charge extra because it's your wedding (some artists do that). She will also come to your house and give you a makeup lesson. I wanted to learn how to do a smoky eye so she did my makeup and taught me how to use the brushes and eye shadows I have.
She's also who I recommend for my clients who want there makeup done picture perfect! Oh almost forgot, she is super reasonable ($50-75)! With a little apprehension (I don't want her too busy for me) I've attached her contact information below.

So I've been seeing all week that today was going to be cold with cloud cover, but who believes the Arizona weather man? We never have anything but sun, heat and clear blue skies, except today. Today he (by he I mean my iphone weather app) was right, it was cold, cloudy and windy. Normally I would not mind, but today I had a session I was very excited for! I had several new locations I wanted to try out today.
Thankfully I had a backup plan. We did an indoor location that was a little constraining but I'm happy with the results. With the space being so small I didn't think we were going to have a lot of options. However we were able to get creative and Holly helped come up with a few ideas. All things turn out better when you have someone to bounce ideas off of. It did help that she is outrageously beautiful.
I hope for some nice weather and free time to photographer her outside (like we planned) early next week.
